LOCATED

Chapinero is located in the center-east of the city and limits the north with the road 100 and the road to La Calera, roads that separate it from Usaquén; in the west, the road Autopista Norte-Avenida Caracas that separates it from the localities of Teusaquillo and Barrios Unidos; in the east, the foothills of Cruz Verde Paramo, “La Piedra de la Ballena”, “El Pan de Azucar” and “El cerro de la Moya”, create the boundary between the locality and the municipalities of La Calera and Choachí. The river arzobispo (39th Street) defines the boundary south of the locality, with the locality of Santa Fe.
Chapinero has a total area of 3,898.96 hectares in a rural area of 2664.25 ha (68%) and an urban area of 1234.71 ha (32%). Today Chapinero has approximately 166,000 inhabitants and a floating population of over 500,000 people. HISTORY

During colonial times the present territory of Chapinero was a road between the capital Santa Fe and municipalities and northern provinces.

The Park 93 is a tourist park in northern Bogotá, exactly is located in the locality of chapinero, between the streets 93A and 93B in the neighborhood Chico and was inaugurated on June 14, 1995 .
Around the park there is a variety of bars , restaurants , cafes and ice cream parlors, also is very visited by tourists and locals. This park is a stage of cultural and recreational events, and nightlife is very active in this place because it has several music venues.
Fun Facts: The Park 93 is known internationally as the "Pike Place Market" of Colombia thanks to that now houses the first Starbucks in Colombia , in addition to also host the first Carls Jr. of the country.


National Park of Bogotá

The Nacional Park Enrique Olaya Herrera or National Park was declared National Monument of Colombia by decree 1756 of the 26 of September of 1996.
The National park concentrates the historical, cultural and recreational values ​​of the place, example: children's theater The park, soccer fields, microfútbol , tennis, volleyball, basketball and hockey.
The National Park is very important because of their national history and also because this was one of the first large parks for recreation of the people of the city. This park was inaugurated by President Enrique Olaya Herrera in 1934.


Lourdes Church

Lourdes Church is located in the main square of the locality of Chapinero, is an icon of the city, one of the churches most beautiful and representative of the Colombian devotion and is heritage of the city.
The church is Gothic- Moorish, is the most representative symbol of the locality of Chapinero due to its architecture, its artistic works, and this makes it one of the most important reference points of the capital. It is the first building in neo-Gothic style in Colombia and was built in 1875.

Nuestra Señora De Chiquinquira Church

This church was constructed between 1925 and 1959, it is located on the 13 career with 51 street.  Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá Church  is a catholic temple. Gastronomical, Cultural and Productivity Fair
Date: first friday in november

It is an event organized by the local mayor of Chapinero, Chapinero Hospital and entities that are part of the Committee on Food Security and Nutrition (SAN) of the locality. This event is held in November.
The fair is held in the Parque Julio Florez or Hippies, where different productive initiatives of the vulnerable population of the locality that receives attention from the District in the fields of gastronomy, culture and productivity. Within the fair you can see artistic, cultural and recreational like a recipe contest involving children and offer products for both the urban and the rural area of ​​the locality. It stands the food grown and made by the peasants of the village of El Verjón Bajo like the cheese, curd, vegetables, aromatic plants, desserts, fruits, eggs peasants, hen, masato, etc.

Chapinero Cachaco Festival and Urban Gallery "Cultural Corridor Lourdes"
Date: In august

Jazz Festival 
Date: September
Opened in 1988, is one of the earliest and most prestigious in Latin America. Since then, except for 1993, it has been hailed as one of the most important festivals on the continent. Its 26 editions have taken place in the Theatre Libre Chapinero, and, sometimes, in the Free Center Theater and in other rooms of the capital. As usual, during the month of September, the Festival offers between 4 and 6 concerts where present solo and groupings of different latitudes are presented: Latin America, USA, Europe, Africa and, of course, Colombia.
In addition to promoting and developing jazz in Colombia, the Festival has given rise to several festivals in other cities, integrating what today is known as the Jazz Circuit Colombia. Throughout its history, the Festival of Free Theatre has invited more than 47,000 spectators and more than 100 musicians of international stature. Hear my Rock:

Festival for new bands, called Hear my Rock, born with the idea of opening a space regardless of age or musical genre, and give young people the opportunity to present. From 2010 he began to organize only 16 invited bands, some of nearby municipalities. The event is held several times a year and are the bands that agree to participate. Hippie Festival
